Hey you guys! For the month of March I am going to be doing a hair challenge! I'm a little nervous about this because it's new to me, but I am only going to be using heat on my hair on the days that I wash my hair (if that, even). For those of you that know me and know my hair, You've seen the damage and you've seen my struggle with my hair has well.
You might be thinking, a month without heat? That shouldn't be too hard. Well, then you don't know my hair. Because I am mixed (Itailan and black) my hair is a hot mess on it's own. I NEED the heat in order to tame it. Or NEEDED it, at least. When I say hot mess, I mean I look like Simba after a fight. My hair is wavy, straight and super Curly Sue curly all on ONE strand of hair! And no, this is NOT from heat, but simply the texture of my hair. It changes about every 7 years. You don't have the same hair type you did when you were a baby do you?
Or on the reverse side, you may be thinking, "Megan, are you crazy?! your hair is going to look terrible, you better put some heat on it or I will disown you." PLEASE don't disown me though. I need to do this, for ME.
Now, this month is not going to be just about no heat. It's also going to be about taking better care of my hair. It's not that I don't take care of my hair, but I can always take better care of it. I can't wash my hair everyday, because first, it's not good to wash your hair everyday, you remove all of the natural oils your scalp produces. Resulting in dry damaged brittle hair. )Unless of course you have an overly oil scalp, then you NEED to wash it every day)
Second, my hair CRAVES moisture (Ugh! I hate that word, I can't believe I just used it!) And washing it all the time, doesn't allow for moisture to stay in my hair. I know what you're thinking.. how is that possible. water is the epitomy of moisture. My hair texture however, does not do well with water moisture. Because when it dries, it's dry and damaged and brittle. AKA, there's ZERO moisture in it. Below is a list of products I will be using in my hair:
1. Suave Naturals Shampoo, Daily Clarifying*
2. Garnier Fructis Fall Fight Shampoo*
3. Aussie 3 minute miracle*
4. Garnier Fructis Fall Fight Conditioner*
5. TRESemme Heat Protector*
6. TRESemme Split Remedy LeaveIn Conditioning Spray*
7. Garnier Fructis Fall Fight Spray*
8. Coconut Oil* (As a weekly conditioning treatment and as a daily styling product)
In addition to those Products, I will also be doing the following:
1. Taking Biotin supplements daily
2. Trimming my hair once a week
3. Drinking at LEAST 100oz of water
I will keep you updated on my thoughts, feelings and progress with this challenge. I am excited for this challenge and can't wait to see how long my hair grows in the next month. Would you be able to go a whole month with using barely any heat on your hair? Do you think I'm going to make it? Let me know your thoughts!
XoXo,
Meg

Makeup Cleanout!
Hey you guys! If you've been following my blog this month, you know that one of my main goals for 2014 is to be healthier by living clean. Every week I will be working towards this goal little by little. Not only will I be physically cleaning my life, but also mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I'm getting rid of all the crap in my life!
Today, I worked on a physical goal. I cleaned out my Makeup Collection. (GASP!!) I don't have much makeup, but I had noticed that I had makeup in my drawers that I wasn't using or even worse, that I had used up and the empty container was just chillin' there. Oh heck no!

Living Clean in Twenty Fourteen
Hey you guys! I hope you're all having a great start to the new year! My New Years Eve was spent at work till 7 PM and then when I got home, it was just me and my little fur baby. I made tilapia and homemade parmesan, garlic, herb potato wedges. And then we laid on the sofa and watched Dick Clark's New Years Rocking Eve. And at 12:15 AM, I went to bed.
I didn't make any New Years Resolutions this year, I never really do. But I decided that I DO want to make a few for this year. However, I'm not going to call them "New Years Resolutions" because that's not what they are. Instead, I'm going to them 'Lifestyle Changes' because that's what they are.

I want to be healthier.
Yes, I know 'being healthy' is a vague term but I have defined it for myself. I am actually excited to get started on this new path for my life. I am so over being tired all the time and unhappy and feeling terrible after I eat. So here are the changes that I am going to be making to improve my quality of life:
